In 2023, the number of e-commerce complaints in India surged by 366% year-on-year

Recently, the Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs held a stakeholder consultation on protecting consumer interests from false online comments. At the meeting, the Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs pointed out that in 2018, there were less than 100000 complaints related to e-commerce registered on the national consumer assistance hotline. However, in five years, the number of e-commerce complaints has surged by 366%, reaching 444000 in 2023, accounting for 43% of the total number of complaints.
