Multiple countries reducing their holdings of US bonds, Japan hitting a four month low
According to the International Capital Flow Report (TIC) released by the US Treasury Department, foreign investors have reduced their holdings of US bonds by the largest amount since September last year. The largest creditor, Japan's US Treasury holdings, decreased by $37.5 billion, stopping for six months of continuous growth and reaching a four month low of $1.15 trillion. The UK reduced its holdings by $17.9 billion to $710.2 billion, while Belgium, which is considered the location of US custody accounts, also reduced its holdings by $4.7 billion to $312 billion.
