Brazil's central bank announces an increase in benchmark interest rate to 15%
Recently, the Central Bank of Brazil announced a 25 basis point increase in the benchmark interest rate to 15%. This is the seventh consecutive interest rate hike by the Brazilian central bank since September last year. The Brazilian central bank released a statement saying that food and energy prices rose in Brazil in May, and the broad consumer price index, the main indicator of inflation, has risen by 5.32% over the past 12 months.
