South Africa's Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has released its Integrated Resource Plan 2023 (IRP), which envisages the construction of more than 100 GW of new power generation capacity by 2050, including solar, wind, nuclear and coal. The IRP envisage 4,468 MW of new electricity in 2030 from wind, 3,715 MW from solar, 7,220 MW from natural gas and 4,103 MW from battery storage.
